Five Work Packages:
WP1 ensures effective and inclusive coordination of the project, facilitating timely delivery, transparent governance, and ethical integrity across all work packages and Living Labs. WP1 anchors communication, cross-LL learning, ethics and data management, and adaptive planning processes to support co-ownership and responsiveness.
WP2 supports the development of grounded, context-sensitive indicators that reflect real-world complexities by identifying what remains unmeasured or inadequately captured in existing agroecology assessment tools. Building on the framework analysis in WP4, WP2 engages each Living Lab in applying existing tools to evaluate their territorial relevance. This includes determining which (quantitative or qualitative) indicators are applicable as they are, which require contextual adaptation, and which are unsuitable.
WP3 addresses the complexities of trade-offs and value conflicts in agroecological transitions. Through participatory tools like serious games and structured dialogues, it supports stakeholders in surfacing hidden values and navigating difficult decisions. The aim is to foster deliberative capacities and shared understanding of trade-offs and diverse values in agroecology transitions across diverse contexts.
WP4 critically reviews and enhances existing agroecology assessment frameworks by integrating indicators and decision-support tools developed in WP2 and WP3. It focuses on modular, context-responsive enhancements that maintain usability while capturing previously underrepresented dimensions of agroecological transformations.
WP5 ensures the visibility, accessibility, and long-term impact of project outputs. It develops a comprehensive communication strategy, curates a high-profile public magazine issue, and engages with institutions to embed project insights and tools into policy, education, and practice, supporting wider-reaching agroecological transformation.
UNMEASURED (Basic Danish website here) organises its work packages as an iterative learning architecture for making difficult-to-measure dimensions of agroecological transitions visible, assessable and actionable. WP1 provides the shared infrastructure for this work. It ensures strategic coordination and coherence across partners, Living Labs and work packages, while anchoring transparent governance, ethical oversight, data management, quality assurance, risk mitigation, internal communication and cross-LL learning. Its role is not to control implementation, but to facilitate co-ownership, responsiveness and adaptive planning.
WP2 is the project’s main space for participatory indicator development. Building on WP4’s framework analysis, each Living Lab applies existing agroecology assessment tools to its own territorial context, identifying indicators that are useful, those requiring contextual adaptation, and those that are unsuitable. From this basis, LL actors co-design new quantitative and qualitative indicators for dimensions that remain unmeasured or underrepresented, including care, social cohesion, cultural resilience, knowledge sovereignty, intergenerational justice, equity and relational dynamics. WP2 therefore bridges standardised metrics and context-specific knowledge.
WP3 develops decision-support for trade-offs and value conflicts. Through serious games, structured dialogue and other participatory tools, it surfaces hidden values, externalities and uncomfortable tensions that shape agroecological transitions. Its work strengthens deliberative capacities, enables stakeholders to navigate difficult decisions, and translates lessons into practice notes, guidebooks and capacity-building materials for farmers, policymakers, advisors, researchers and civil society actors.
WP4 acts as the integrative backbone of the project. It critically reviews existing assessment frameworks such as TAPE, OASIS, HOLPA and AAF, identifies gaps, and translates the methodological innovations of WP2 and WP3 into modular, context-responsive enhancements. These may take the form of add-ons, bridging modules, interpretive protocols, companion assessment tools or follow-up procedures that extend existing frameworks without undermining usability, comparability or coherence.
WP5 works transversally to ensure visibility, accessibility and long-term uptake. It develops communication channels, dissemination materials, policy briefs, training resources and the curated Rooted magazine issue. By supporting institutional embedding in policy, education, advisory systems and practice, WP5 turns project outputs into reusable resources for wider agroecological transformation and legacy beyond the project period. Together, the WPs create recursive feedback loops between conceptual innovation, practical testing and institutional translation across Europe.
